Vila-seca La Pineda celebrates its Summer Festival 2023, with more than 50 activities

Vila-seca La Pineda Summer Festival, in Costa Dorada, starts tomorrow, Friday 21st of July, and ends on the 3rd of August, with an extensive programme of around 50 events, ranging from cultural and musical to family and leisure activities, most of which are free of charge.

If you are from Vila-seca, La Pineda or La Plana, you can take Line 1 to get around the three towns.   

Tomorrow, Friday, the celebrations will kick off in La Pineda with the 'Masandmasshow Tour Bus Open Air' event, with DJ Nacho Lascasas, starting at 11:30 p.m. on Pau Casals promenade.   

This Saturday, 22nd of July, both in the afternoon and evening, you can also enjoy the Castells exhibition, with the groups Castellers de Sant Pere i Sant Pau and Xiquets de Vila-seca; and the Correfoc, by the members of the town's Ball de Diables, in the area around the seafront promenade of La Pineda. The day will end with fireworks on Racó beach and the 80s and 90s Disco Party on Pau Casals promenade.  

Concerts and DJs  

Among the most important concerts are those of the musical groups Amics de Manel and Buhos, next Friday, 28th of July; the big Fiesta Mayor dance, with the Orquestra Krypton, on the 29th of July; and the performance of El Artistre, on the 1st of August; all of them in Vila-seca.  

In addition, Cubik Space, located in the courtyard of the Sant Bernat Calvó School in Vila-seca, will once again be set up. You can enjoy the disco party, by Rubén Romero, on Friday, 28th of July; and two other parties, with AMEV, on the 29th and 30th of July. There will also be other festive events, such as the Cercabirra, with the Txaranga Band Tocats and the Charanga El Pincho de Barbastre, on Saturday, 29th of July, at 6 p.m.; and the Route N-340 Vermut de Fiesta Mayor, at different points in Vila-seca, with DJs and live music.   

On the other hand, if you prefer a quieter atmosphere, a chill-out area will be set up in the garden of the Library, during all the festival days.  

Cultural and sporting events  

As for the cultural events that make up the programme for this year 2023, the highlights are the displays of popular culture, parades of the different cultural elements, havaneres performances with tastings of burnt rum, Correfocs and Castells.   

Also, the fast-painting competition on Sunday, 30th of July; the Night of Humour, by the comedian Victor Parrado, with his show 'Buenrollistas'. As well as the Magic Night, with Aleix Vidal, and the play 'Històries curtes en espais tancats', with the group Se'ns va l'olla, both on the 2nd of August.  

Club d'Escacs Vila-seca organises, on Sunday, July 30, the XLIX Lightning Team Chess Tournament and the XXIV Junior Team Chess Tournament, in the Castle garden.   

For families  

In La Pineda, this coming Monday, 24th of July, the youngest members of the family will be able to enjoy the family show 'Vitamina', by Cia. Escura Splats, on Pau Casals promenade. Also, on Wednesday 26th, the film 'Padre no hay más que uno 3' will be shown in the Pinar de Perruquet park.  

On the other hand, in Vila-seca, next Saturday, 29th July, the Vila-seca Family Race will be held in the streets and squares of the historic centre. 

Families can also enjoy other shows, such as 'Una carretada de contes', with La Guilla Teatre, on 31 July; 'Dones valentes', by Sensedrama Teatre, on 1 August; and, finally, 'Trópico', with Cia. Teia Moner, on 2 August. All of them will take place in the Plaça de l'Estudi.

The Big Day, 3rd August  

Vila-seca will culminate the celebration of its Summer Festival, on August 3, with a very participative day, to show its cultural richness. In the morning, the events will begin with the 'Matinades tronades', through the historic centre, performed by the tabalers of the Ball de Diables de Vila-seca. At the end, the ringing of bells will take place in the square of the parish church of Sant Esteve, followed by the High Mass.   

In the afternoon, the activities will continue with the performance of the Ball de Sant Esteve, organised by the Arts Section of the Agrupació Cultural de Vila-seca, with the collaboration of the theatre group La Tramoia. There will also be a performance of havaneres with burnt rum, at 8 p.m., and a parade of trabucaires.   

The last night of the festivities will close with a great Correfoc, from the Plaça dels Països Catalans to Avinguda de Ramon d'Olzina; and with a great fireworks display by Dragon Coeters, which can be enjoyed from all along the Via Maxima and from different parts of the town.   

Once again this year, a party cup will be made available to all those attending the festival, so that you can reuse it and thus reduce the amount of waste.
