Origin

Misericòrdia Festival in Reus is the city's small festival, as Sant Pere Festival, which is the bug festival, is also held in June. These festivities originated in the 16th century, when the city began to suffer from a plague epidemic, and the Virgin of Misericordia appeared to a shepherdess, who promised the young woman that she would save Reus from this terrible event. At that time, the festivities had a more religious character; however, from the 20th century onwards, they began to take on a much more commemorative and festive character.

What's new in 2023

This new edition of 2023 includes two new features. Two new elements will be added to the set of festive elements. On the one hand, El Pere i la Lloba, by Colla Pessigolla, which is based on the children's story 'Peter and the wolf'. The new figure consists of a she-wolf, which is carried by two people; a big-headed man, Pere; and four sheep to be carried with a wheelbarrow, who accompany them.

On the other hand, the Superadrac, from Supera't Association, has been introduced in the entourage, which is designed so that it can be carried by people in wheelchairs, with the aim of integrating people with functional diversity into the parades.

So that you can get to Reus without any worries, BusPlana provides you with schedules of the regular lines, which you can consult on our website. Remember that the night bus from Salou to Reus is available, to make it easier for you to travel and enjoy these days of the festival.
