Christmas is a magical time that fills every corner of our lives with light and joy. At this time of year, the streets of the cities are illuminated with a special glow. The lighting of the lights is the exciting event that kicks off the Christmas season, filling the streets with excited people and illuminating dark winter evenings with that unique Christmas spirit.

BusPlana's regular lines allow you to travel between different towns, such as Barcelona, Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils and Vila-seca La Pineda. You can check our website for schedules and bus stops that best suit you.

Enjoy Barcelona illuminated

Year after year, Barcelona surprises us with the incredible light show that delights us in its streets. The avenues are decorated with coloured lights, reflecting the diversity and cultural richness of the city. People from all over the world go to the city exclusively to soak up its festive atmosphere and Christmas traditions.

The Catalan capital began switching on its lights last Thursday, 23rd of November, at 6.30pm, and will keep them up until Saturday, 6th of January.

The main locations, where you can enjoy the most emblematic lights of Barcelona, are the same as last year: Via Laietana, Plaça Urquinaona, Carrer Balmes, Plaça Catalunya, Aragó, Gran Via and Paral·lel. But this year, for the first time, Passeig Sant Joan will also be illuminated along the stretch between Avinguda de Vilanova and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes.

Tarragona fills up with lights

Every year, the capital of Tarragonès never ceases to surprise us with its bright lights that flood the city with colour and joy. Strolling through its streets at Christmas time is a pleasant experience not to be missed. Both tourists and citizens from the surrounding towns are attracted to the town to do their Christmas shopping, enjoy a good meal or simply take a stroll under the lights.

Tarragona held the Christmas opening ceremony on the previous Friday, 24th of November. The lighting is once again present in the old part of the city (Part Alta). The main streets are Avinguda de Catalunya and Plaça de la Font. Also, in the city centre, in Carrer Reding, Avinguda Ramon y Cajal, Prat de la Riba and Rambla Nova. In the neighbourhoods where you will also find the lighting are: Serrallo, Ponent, Nord and Llevant.

Stroll through the streets of Reus

The capital of Baix Camp, known for its large number of emblematic buildings of modernist architecture and for the personal mark left by Gaudí and Domènech i Muntaner, once again lights up its streets and squares.

Reus inaugurated Christmas last Friday, 24th of November, in Plaça del Mercadal, with the switching on of the lights in the city. The lights will remain on until the 7th of January 2024

If you don't want to miss the most beautiful spots of the city at this time of year, visit: Plaça del Mercadal, with its large Christmas tree and Christmas market; Plaça de Prim, with its carousel; and Plaça de la Llibertat, with its large sphere of light of 12 metres in diameter. What's more, stroll through the most central streets of the town and feel the Christmas spirit like never before.

Get to know Salou at Christmas

Like other towns, Salou is preparing to warmly welcome visitors from nearby towns and from other countries. Its streets, illuminated by Christmas lights, are a magnificent place to take a stroll with family and enjoy its rich gastronomy, beside the beach.

The capital of Costa Dorada will start Christmas this Friday, 1st of December, at the crossroads of Carrer Barcelona and Via Roma. The event will start at 7pm, and will offer us different Christmas shows, music and the expected lighting of the Christmas tree, along with the lights of the streets of the town.

The places with the most special lighting are: Carrer Barcelona, Carrer de la Ciutat de Reus, Via Roma, Via Augusta, Municipal Market, Plaça del Carrilet, Plaça Sant Jordi and Plaça Europa, among other streets of the city centre.

The Christmas charm of Cambrils

Cambrils, the city of gastronomy, experiences, family tourism and culture, also celebrates Christmas on a large scale. As the sun goes down, its beautiful streets fill with light and colour to remind us that this long-awaited time of year, Christmas, is here. The lights will be switched on this Friday, 1st of December, at 6pm, in Plaça de l'Ajuntament.

If you are going to visit the city soon, you should take a stroll through the streets and squares with the most emblematic Christmas lights and decorations. These are: Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Mossèn Batalla, Plaça del Pòsit, Plaça Lluís Companys and Plaça Francesc Macià.

Discover Vila-seca La Pineda lit up

Vila-seca, the Catalan town in the middle of Costa Dorada, hides great cultural and gastronomic treasures. With more than three kilometres of beaches, this town welcomes many tourists in summer, but what is this town like in winter? Vila-seca La Pineda Platja, at Christmas time, lights up its streets with a multitude of lights and places Christmas decorations in its squares.

The town began to switch on the lights last Friday, 24th of November. At the event, the Christmas tree in Parc de la Riera was lit up, offering us an incredible light show, and the entire Avenida de Ramon d'Olzina was also illuminated, leaving us with a beautiful Christmas scene in the town.

The highlights can be found on Avinguda de Ramon d'Olzina, Rambla de Catalunya, Plaça del Parc de la Riera, Plaça de la Església and Carrer de Tarragona.
