The Cós Blanc de Salou: an explosion of confetti, light and colour

The Cós Blanc de Salou is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Winter Festival, held every year on the first Saturday in February. This year, the parade will take place on Saturday, 1st of February, and will go through the main streets of the town, starting at 7 p.m. from Passeig Jaume I. The parade, which is already a tradition in the town, brings together thousands of people to enjoy a unique spectacle full of confetti, music, lights, costumes and original decorated floats. Last year, more than 50,000 people attended.

Along the route, visitors can enjoy a festive atmosphere with thousands of confetti, dances and live performances that make the Cós Blanc a unique event. Floats parade through the main streets, such as Carrer del Mar, Carrer Major and Passeig Jaume I, while attendees immerse themselves in a colourful and lively celebration that welcomes February in a unique way.

If you prefer to enjoy this parade in a quieter way, Salou organises an inicial parade in the morning along different streets of the municipality, such as Carrer Advocat Gallego, Carrer Barcelona, Passeig Miramar, Passeig Jaume I, Carrer del Mar and Carrer Major.

In addition to the Cós Blanc, this year's festivities include activities such as the Festa de les Colles, which is an event dedicated to the groups that take part in the organisation of this magnificent parade. This party serves as a meeting point for friends and family members who come together in the colles (groups) to enjoy a day of fun, music, dancing and, of course, lots of tradition. It will take place on the night of Thursday, 30th of January, at the Envelat, and will feature performances by Nueva Alaska and the Atabaladors de Salou.

Salou also has a party designed for the little ones, the Cós Blanc Xic'S, which will take place on Friday 31st of January at 5.30 p.m. at the Envelat. At this event, children can enjoy this magnificent parade with children's characters, shows and lots of confetti, allowing them to experience the magic of the festival in a safe and fun way. The Cós Blanc Xic'S is a perfect option for families to enjoy the celebration together, while the children become the real stars of the event.

Santa Eulàlia Festivities in Barcelona

From the 7th to the 12th of February 2025, Barcelona pays tribute to its co-patron saint, Santa Eulàlia, with one of the most beloved celebrations by the people of Barcelona. These festivities fill the streets of the city with tradition, culture and activities for all audiences, combining history and modernity in a programme that reflects the soul of the city.

One of the strong points of these festivities is the revival of ancient Catalan traditions. The castells (human towers) are an impressive spectacle in which skill and teamwork take centre stage. The displays will take place in emblematic places such as Plaça de Sant Jaume, where traditional dances such as the sardana will also be performed.

The giants and big-headed figures (gegants i capgrossos) are also an essential part of these festivities. These figures parade through the streets to the sound of popular music, representing historical and legendary characters, creating a festive atmosphere that attracts both locals and tourists. The parade of giants culminates in an emotional gathering in which all the figures dance in unison.

Music and light also play an important role. Barcelona's most emblematic buildings, such as the City Hall and the Cathedral, are decorated with projections and audiovisual shows. The Llum BCN festival, held in parallel, transforms the city into a magical stage, with art installations and light shows that highlight the architecture of iconic spaces. It will take place especially in the Poblenou neighbourhood and around Plaça de les Glòries.

The Santa Eulàlia Festival is not only a celebration of tradition, but also an opportunity to reflect on Barcelona's past and present. The festival highlights the city's pride in its cultural roots and its citizens' ability to keep their traditions alive while embracing modernity.

If you visit Barcelona during these dates, don't miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the cultural heart of the city and celebrate with the locals one of the most special festivities of the year.
