Celebrate Christmas on Costa Dorada, with BusPlana

Christmas and the Three Wise Men are two celebrations that many of us look forward to and, for this reason, the different municipalities of Costa Dorada offer us a programme with multiple activities to celebrate and enjoy these dates. The programmes include cultural, traditional and festive activities, aimed at both the youngest members of the family, adults and families.   

From BusPlana, we provide you with schedules of the regular lines, which you can check on our website so that you can move, comfortably, between different municipalities, such as Tarragona, Salou, Vila-seca La Pineda and Cambrils, among others. Tarragona's Christmas programme   

For children, there are many activities of interest, including the Children's Christmas Park, which can be visited from the 27th of December until the 4th of January.  

As this year the 31st of December falls on Sunday and the Central Market will be closed, the Children's New Year's Eve will be brought forward by one day. Therefore, on Saturday 30th of December, don't forget to take your grapes or sweets to the Central Market and celebrate this special occasion with your loved ones.    

On the afternoon of the 5th of January, the Three Wise Men arrive in the city by sea, greeted by the sirens of the ships in the port. This will be followed by the welcoming speech, the welcoming fireworks and the parade from Plaça dels Infants - Carrer Reial to Plaça de la Font.   

On the other hand, from the 5th of December to the 6th of January, you can enjoy a stroll through the Craft Fair, set up on Rambla Nova. Also, from the 1st of December to the 7th of January, you'll find the Tarraco Gel, where you can enjoy ice skating. And to end the year, don't miss the big party, “¡Fin de año Super Fresh!”, in Tarraco Arena Plaza.  

Discover the activities in Salou   

To start the festive season with the best possible excitement, Disney characters will accompany you to discover Christmas in Salou. You can have fun with them until Friday, 22nd of December, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.    

Also, on the 21st of December, you can take a family walk through the Enchanted Forest. You can also deliver your letters to Santa Claus on the 22nd of December, from 5 pm to 8 pm; and on the 22nd of December, in the Old Town, the Tió de Nadal will be waiting for you, both children and adults will be able to enjoy this Catalan tradition.  

To close the festivities, the Three Wise Men will arrive at port of Salou on the 5th of January at 6 pm, laden with gifts. On arrival, the mayor will present them with the magic key of the city and they will begin their parade through the streets of the town. You can check the full programme at this link.    

Celebration by the sea, in Cambrils   

Fun for the little ones comes alive with a variety of activities designed especially for them. As a novelty, on Saturday, 23rd of December, on Rambla Jaume I, there will be a 14-metre Tió de nadal XXL, where children can take part in the Catalan Christmas tradition of the “Caga Tió”, a wooden log, covered in a blanket and usually given a warm, smiley face where children come and use sticks to beat it, so that it then defecates little treats, usually by adults removing the blanket to show all the treats that has been stuffed under it. 

This Christmas, our children will be able to enjoy activities such as face painting, visits from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, Christmas circus workshops, magic sessions, and many more activities!   

Also, on the night of the 31st of December, in Ateneu Juvenil, the New Year's Eve Youth Verbena will be held. With a performance by Els Suricates, followed by two DJ'S, it's sure to be an unforgettable night.      

On Friday 5th of January, with the arrival of the Three Wise Men, young and old alike will be eagerly awaiting the parade, where Their Majesties will parade through the streets of the town, with floats full of gifts.    

Experience Christmas in Vila-seca La Pineda   

Next Sunday, 24th of December, from 10 am to 2 pm, the little ones of the house will be able to come to the Castle of Vila-seca to deliver their letters to the Three Wise Men. They will also be able to do so on 26th, 30th and 31st of December, at the same place. On the afternoon of the 24th, at 5 pm, you can enjoy, with your family, the Tió Festival, which will be held in Plaça de l'Església.  

On Monday, 25th of December, at 7 pm, the iconic Christmas play "Els Pastorets" (The Shepherds) will be performed at El Centru Theatre. And on the 26th of December, at 7:30 pm, the St. Stephen's Day concert will be performed by Nova Unió Choir of Vila-seca and the Händel Orchestra of the Municipal Conservatory of Music.    

On Friday night, 5th of January 2024, in the streets of the three town centres, Vila-seca, La Pineda and La Plana, we can enjoy the parade of Their Majesties, the Three Wise Men of the East.    

Finally, it is worth mentioning that, from the 27th to the 30th of December, the Vila-seca Christmas Children's Park will be held, where the youngest members of the family can enjoy a fun day full of games and workshops; and on the 27th, 28th and 29th of December, the Christmas Youth Park, where the town's teenagers can have a great time.
