BusPlana takes you to PortAventura to experience this Halloween

PortAventura World is once again celebrating one of its most incredible annual events, Halloween, with a spectacular transformation of its theme park par excellence, PortAventura Park, which will transport you and your family to the most terrifying night of the year. You will be able to live this experience until the 12th of November 2023.

From BusPlana, we provide you with the schedules of the regular lines, which you can consult on our website, so that you can travel to PortAventura from Tarragona, Vila-seca La Pineda, Cambrils, Salou, Barcelona and Barcelona Airport without any worries.

How did Halloween come about?

Although it is a tradition in Spain to celebrate All Saints' Day, and specifically in Catalonia, La Castanyada, Halloween is a festival that has also taken root in the territory, thanks to the good reception it has had in recent times by the family public.

The word Halloween has its origin in 'All Hallow Eve', eve of All Saints. In ancient times, in Celtic and Roman culture, the end of the harvest was celebrated with a feast, with the arrival of autumn, and the remembrance of deceased relatives.

Halloween, as we know it today, has evolved with the introduction of new customs, especially following its arrival in the United States. One of the activities that cannot be missed on this holiday is trick-or-treating, eagerly awaited by the little ones, who go in costume to the neighbourhood houses to ask for sweets. As well as the numerous decorations with pumpkins, spider’s webs, witches and skeletons.

Passages of terror and shows

PortAventura Park has prepared up to 6 terror passages for you to enjoy this terrifying experience to the fullest:

  • REC® Experience: With this activity you will get to know, first-hand, the scenes and characters from the famous REC® film saga. It is the largest closed passage in Europe, with a duration of about 15 minutes. It is in Polynesia.

  • Apocalipsis Maya: In Mexico area, you will enter a forbidden temple, where you will have to challenge mummies, zombies and other horror characters.

  • La Muerte Viva: Also in Mexico. This is a passage, inside a Mexican hacienda, where the Day of the Dead is being celebrated, and where you will have to flee from the world of the dead.

  • Horror in Texas: Far West area includes this other passage, the oldest in the park, which takes place inside an abandoned mansion.

  • Truco o trato: A ride aimed especially at the youngest members of the family, who can meet friendly ghosts, witches and other characters as they wander through an enchanted forest.

  • La Isla Maldita: At the end of the day, you can't miss one of the great jewels of the park, this great passage of terror located in Caribe Aquatic Park, where you will have to escape from madmen, criminals, pirates, zombies and many other creatures. The ride lasts about 10-15 minutes, and there is also a DJ area and a food stall to liven up the access.

Remember that the park entrance fee does not include tickets. To access the passages, you must purchase the specific ticket for each one, separately. However, you can purchase the Halloween Passport 5, which includes entry to all of them; or, if you only want to enter a couple, you have the option of the Halloween Passport 2.

Halloween shows

During your day at PortAventura Park, you can also enjoy the wide range of shows for all ages that take place throughout the day.

For example, Halloween Factory, which takes place in the Gran Teatro Imperial, and features acrobatic performances and choreographies; the musical Vampires, in Long Branch Saloon, with humour, music and magic tricks; Bang Bang Halloween, in the Stunt Show theatre, located in Far West, where you will experience a duel between cowboys and vampires; and El Día de los Muertos, with the traditional rhythm of this feast.

Also, for the little ones, PortAventura Park has prepared a fun show with music and dance in SésamoAventura. This performance features the best-known Sesame Street® characters.

At the end of the day, you will be able to meet all the characters and artists participating in PortAventura's Halloween, with a big show full of music, colours and lights in Mediterrània area. There will also be the Horror en el Lago show, with a breathtaking mixture of fire, music, water and pyrotechnics.

What's New 2023

This year, the theme park of Costa Dorada premieres, for the first time, a Scare Zone, which consists of a passage area, with monsters and horror characters that scare everyone who passes by. It is called ‘La Maldición del Emperador’ and it’s located between the Polynesia exit and the Temple Màgic.

With this new initiative, you will have the chance to enter his empire and get to know the spirit of the emperor and his guards, who will walk around the park, armed, in the evening, at dusk.

Another novelty that you can enjoy, since last September, is the immersive virtual experience PortAventura VRX by Zero Latency, with an area of up to 200 m², which includes various games to choose, from an option of villains and pirates on an island paradise; other futuristic, in space, with robots; as well as zombies in a post-apocalyptic world; among others. Each session lasts about 30 minutes and can accommodate to 8 players.

Finally, in 2023, the new ride 'Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence', which includes the first sideways drop in Europe, has also recently opened.
