  • Josep Albert Vallcorba, president of Grup Plana, highlighted the investment of one and a half million euros to improve the routes’ capacity and comfort
  • Each coach has a capacity for 99 passengers, 44 more than a standard coach, and is accessible to people with limited mobility
  • The three units have the maximum environmental certification Euro6E, which entails a drastic reduction in polluting gases
  • The new vehicles will cover the Costa Dorada-Tarragona-Barcelona City routes
  • The buses, which will start operating immediately, were presented today at an event in Vila-seca with the City Council and the Department of Territory

BusPlana continues to renew its fleet of buses and today presented 3 new double-decker vehicles in Vila-seca. The new buses have 99 passenger seats each, almost doubling the capacity of a conventional coach, and favouring energy savings.

The three coaches have meant an investment of one and a half million euros for Grup Plana and will cover the Costa Dorada - Tarragona - Barcelona City routes.

Josep Albert Vallcorba, president of Grup Plana, emphasized that the new vehicles have been designed specifically for the company and have measures to improve sustainability and safety: "We are launching these buses with the hope of being able to provide the best possible service to the public".

Furthermore, Pere Segura, Mayor of Vila-seca, stressed the importance of strengthening public transportation between Costa Dorada and the city of Barcelona at the biginning of the summer.

In this regard, Oriol Martori, General Director of Transportation and Mobility, pointed out Grup Plana's constant efforts to renew itself. "In a context of growth in passenger transportation by road, we need companies with the spirit of quality and self-improvement that Grup Plana demonstrates," he said.

Adapted buses

The coaches, from the Scania brand and with bodywork made by the Catalan company Beulas, are adapted for people with limited mobility and have state-of-the-art active and passive safety systems. They even have camera systems to cover blind spots and seat belts that can be adapted according to the height of the user.

Environmental certification

All three vehicles are Euro 6E certified, the most demanding environmental certification currently in force, which guarantees the maximum limitation of emissions.

Euro 6E means an 80% reduction in nitrous oxides (NOx) and a 66% reduction in polluting particles (PM), compared to the already very demanding Euro 5 environmental standard.

Constant fleet renewal

Last year, Grup Plana replaced 100 coaches and this year plans to renew 70 more, opting for a Euro6 fleet, in line with its firm commitment to the environment.
